Our seniors have done their “tour of duty” in our community-- and in many cases are now doing even more . Without the residents who came before me, I w ould not be where I am. We all stand on their shoulders. We need to provide the senior s of our community with the support that they need to have a high quality of life. Seniors centers provide a haven for seniors to meet, eat, and engage in a host of beneficial activities . I intend to support senior centers in the community. Our elders have a lot to offer to our community and we must tap into their invaluable resources.

We should bridge the gap between our youth and our seniors by getting youths and seniors together for reciprocal learning.

I will:

• Increase funding for senior centers and programs
• Lower requirements and increase funding for the Heat Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Senior Citizens Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and other programs that help seniors lower their cost of living
• Increase funding for senior housing programs
• Fund intergenerational programs
