Strong Labor organizations in New York State are crucial in ensuring that all workers, not just their members, have safe working conditions, fair treatment from employers, livable wages, and basic benefits. I will fight against efforts from any direction to diminish a workers’ right to join a union, or a union’s ability to advocate for all workers. I am lead sponsor of the Paid Vacations Act, which would require paid vacations for employees, especially for the thousands of New Yorkers who take no vacation time away from work.¹ I’m also a sponsor of legislation to expand the number of New Yorkers who are to be paid Living Wages. I support more vocational and apprenticeship training programs for our youth, particularly in economically disadvantaged communities.
