I believe that we must continue to fight for equality for LGBTQ individuals. I firmly believe in marriage equality and supported the Supreme Court’s landmark decision legalizing gay marriage in 2015. I was also the lead sponsor of the Community Safety Act (2013)¹, which was one of the largest expansions of LGBTQ protections in recent years. As Public Advocate, my office will always be a place that will advocate for equal rights and dignity for those who identify as part of the LGBTQ community.
